Now that I've told you that... Now that you have heard about all of the freaky happenings shooting PRISM at our real life psych ward location, put yourself in our lead actress' shoes. The beautiful and amazing Karen Garcia who plays the lead role of Dr. Leanna Grant in our film is truly a force to be reckoned with. Full of energy and powerfully expressive, she takes on her challenging role with professionalism and bravery. But funny enough we found out about half way through our shoot that she is extremely susceptible to being spooked by weird occurrences. Now far be it from us to take cheap shots, but we did on occasion let her overhear some of the weirdness that was going on around her, which she would generally respond to by either walking away briskly with her fingers in her ears, or cursing at us in a fluid and somewhat charming Cuban Spanish. All of our shoots have been late nights and this particular one we finished rather late, and she was the only actor left. The crew got packed up we turned off the lights, went out of the building, and locked the front doors with a chain and a padlock, just like every night. For some reason we hung around for a few minutes before starting our hour long drives home, when one person asked, "Hey, did anyone see Karen leave?" "Oh, she left a WHILE ago." was the reply. After a few moments of argument we figured we aught to check. Just as we unlocked the padlock and I walked in, Karen was coming around the dark corner from the dressing room, walking the long dark hall alone. We almost didn't tell her how close she came to spending the night locked up alone in a dark haunted psych ward...but then we did. Probably a mistake. My ears are still ringing. She still made her call time the next day though, ready to work and with a great sense memory.
