When a young autistic boy witnesses the brutal murder of his parents and falls into a mysterious catatonic state a lovely young psychologist takes on the challenge of helping him. But her solitary quest for answers gets more peculiar and unnerving at each turn, leading her in a direction which tests her professionalism, relationships, and her very hold on reality.

Whatever we believe, there seems to be no question that as a species, or more accurately "an effect" we are not merely physical. We do not really understand what existence is about. We are its iheritors without comprehension of its nature, and we constantly take for granted or ignore the mystery of that inherritance. Sometimes however, the mystery finds us, and wakes us up. This is one of those stories.
